Taber at 120: A Look Back at Our History and Forward to Our Future
For 120 years, Taber has been a place where community, tradition, and progress come together. As we celebrate this incredible milestone, we’re hosting a year full of exciting events, family-friendly activities, and plenty of opportunities to connect with our history and each other. It’s a time to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the future. And yes, there will be corn. Lots of corn.
A Look Back at Taber’s Roots
Taber’s journey started in the early 1900s, beginning with a humble water station for steam locomotives. Originally called Tank No. 77, it played a key role in the development of the region. In 1903, the first Mormon settlers arrived, laying the groundwork for what would become a thriving community. The Village of Taber was incorporated in 1905, and in 1907, Taber officially became a town!
Over the decades, Taber has evolved from a small settlement into an agricultural hub known for its fertile lands and successful farming, especially in corn production. Through the highs and lows, the resilience of Taber’s people has been the driving force behind the town’s development. Today, we’re proud of our rich history, our roots in farming, and the vibrant community that makes us who we are. It’s been 120 years, and we’re still growing strong!
Why 120 Years Matters
120 years is about more than just numbers—it’s about the community, the friendships, the resilience and the memories we’ve built over time.
This anniversary gives us a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come and appreciate the generations of residents who have contributed to making Taber the place we know and love.
This milestone also highlights how Taber has evolved over the years. From overcoming challenges to embracing growth and innovation, our community has adapted and continued to grow, ensuring that the small-town charm we love stays at the heart of everything. While we celebrate all that we’ve achieved, we’re also looking ahead, excited for the future and the new possibilities that await.
This milestone isn’t just a celebration of what we’ve accomplished—it’s a look at what’s to come, too. And we can’t wait for what the future holds!
As we reflect on the past, we’re also setting our sights on the future—keeping the best of what makes Taber unique while embracing exciting changes and growth. This celebration is about our past, present, and the wonderful possibilities ahead!
